At Chemnotia, we have extensive collective experience of research and development in synthetic organic chemistry and process development, both in industry and academia.

Anders Bøgevig, PhD

Portfolio and Innovation

Anders’ strong intuitive sense for finding innovative solutions together with his interest in synthetic chemistry is the foundation for his role in the company. He is responsible for building new business areas and Chemnotia’s product portfolio. Anders brings experience in project leadership and new business opportunities from roles he has held in the past, and additionally he has a strong background in synthetic chemistry.

Anders got his PhD in 2001 at Århus University, Denmark, under supervision of Prof. Karl-Anker Jørgensen. He then moved to Sweden for a postdoctoral position at Stockholm University. In 2003 he joined AstraZeneca R&D, Södertälje, as a synthesis specialist at the Process R&D unit. During the time at AstraZeneca he took part in, and lead, specialist groups working together with project teams with scale-up, route design, and development of synthesis planning software.

Fernando F Huerta, PhD

Chemical Information Development

Fernando’s areas of expertise are organic synthesis and information systems for chemists. His primary role at Chemnotia is to strengthen the links between organic chemists and different information systems. A corner stone in our business is to simplify the way chemists access the information they need to solve their tasks.

Fernando obtained his PhD in 1998 at the University of Alicante, Spain, under the supervision of Prof. Miguel Yus, and then joined the group of Prof. Jan-Erling Bäckvall at Stockholm University for his postdoc. During his professional career, he acted as Associate Professor at the University of Alicante before joining AstraZeneca R&D, Södertälje in 2002. At AstraZeneca, he was an integral member of a specialist team in charge of supporting projects throughout the organization with solving synthetic chemistry tasks, using the most up-to-date information searching techniques available.

In addition to his role at Chemnotia, Fernando is a co-founder of Evomedicon AB and MedalChemy SL which are all companies working in chemistry-related areas.

Tobias Rein, PhD

Scientific Quality and Development

Tobias’ vast experience in different areas of organic and medicinal chemistry represents a priceless value for the company. His main focus is to ensure that Chemnotia applies science and innovation of the highest possible level to solve our customers’ challenges.

Tobias obtained his PhD in 1989 from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden, working with Prof. Björn Åkermark. After postdoctoral work with Prof. Stephen F. Martin at the University of Texas, Austin, he started his academic carrier as Assistant Professor at KTH. Later, he has held positions as Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Lyngby, and as Adjunct Professor at KTH. Tobias joined AstraZeneca R&D, Södertälje, in 2000 and was first leading project chemistry teams at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry. In 2006, he moved to the Process R&D unit to build and lead a team of specialists having overall responsibility for synthesis planning, route scouting, and solving synthetic challenges for the drug development projects. In addition, he worked with building synthetic chemistry capability globally across AstraZeneca.

Tobias has a proven ability to ensure the scientific quality of the details while simultaneously seeing the overall perspective.
